In the Old Testament, in fact in the book of Leviticus 15: 19-26, a woman is considered to be unclean and impure during her monthly period therefore any intimacy with her is forbidden, either sexual, casual,or romantic. Intimacy of any kind is forbidden as this will also make whosoever is having intimacy with the unclean person to also be unclean.
“And if a woman have an issue, and her issue in her flesh be blood, she shall be put apart seven days:and whosoever touches her shall be unclean until evening”
Going into celestial doctrine, women in their flow of blood are not allowed to get close to the church vicinity let alone getting close to things set aside for the temple and altar of God.
But then in the New testaments when the woman with the issue of blood touched the helm of Jesus Christ’s garment, behold she was made whole and Jesus was not regarded as unclean. Matthew 9: 20- 22
Two reasons can be fathomed from these two passages:
1. The woman wasn’t on menstrual flow, she had a spiritual/health problem that caused the flow and she needed healing and her spiritual ‘attack’ had not made her unclean.
2. Jesus Christ is supreme being and above every problems, power, circumstances and principalities of this world, Colossians 1:15-18 therefore He cannot be affected by such but rather divine healing power came out of him to heal the woman.
But for Shepherds and their wives, during this time of mensuration, should intimacy be cut short? Though, this lasts for just seven days even though the flow is not more than 4-5 days.
Should the shepherd stay off those four days to enable him be in accordance and holiness in the discharge of his duty?
What we at #CNO can actually suggest is that, the shepherd should be more concerned about the things of God than mere romantic ecstasy with his wife for that period the wife is observing her flow because those times might be too precarious for him when devil comes with his deceitful way of doing things hence he falls into temptation.
