Good News: Generous Remuneration Packages For Shepherds, Workers, Drivers But….

November 28, 2017 / Alonge Michael / On The Spot / 3 Comments »

Sup. Evang. Olawole Famakinwa (Barrister) has disclosed what the church has in stock for the clergymen such as Shepherds, workers in the vineyard, choristers, drivers as prepared in the new draft constitution but there is a something delaying it being passed for final approval by the authority; the reason is yet to be known.

Here is what he said, “The new draft constitution of the Celestial Church of Christ contains generous remuneration packages for all cadres of church workers and administrative and support staff, including drivers. Similarly there is a welfare package for serving workers who die in service. All the funds are easily funded by the church. There are facts and figures in the new draft constitution that shows how this can be easily done.

It is very appalling when a serving clergy falls ill and there is a shout out to well-meaning Celestial Church members to pay for his treatment in hospital. When a loyal staff dies and letters are written to the Diaspora to raise funds to bury a man who served faithfully and died in Nigeria. For how long are we going to rubbish the service and memory of our fathers who have toiled in our midst?

I am not surprised though. The Blue Book contains adequate provisions for the support of the dependents of former Pastors. However, I have it on good authority that this is not faithfully complied with by those in authority. We forget that we are here today and we become late tomorrow.

However for some very strange reason Ketu has refused to call a BOT meeting to ratify this beautiful and progressive document for it to be registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission Abuja. After it has been so registered can it be operative in the daily affairs and management of our Parishes to cater for the life and well-being of the staff of the church, living or dead.

Death is inevitable so let us prepare well for it. The present Pastor championed an insurance policy for church workers but it is doubtful how many were enrolled and if the monthly subscriptions are up to date.

If you want to see a copy of the new draft constitution of our church that is gathering dust in Ketu send an email to Olawole.Famakinwa@me.com. There is a section that is headed Finance. A copy is also available on the International Management Committee Facebook page. Let us all campaign for the implementation of this document.”
