For transparency and keeping the records clean, the Registered Trustees of Celestial Church of Christ, Worldwide led by Baba Banjo, through their legal counsel, have come out to tell the entire world that Rev EMF Oshoffa’s instituted BoT is not to be regarded.
In a letter published in the centerspread of Punch Newspapers, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, ‘Wale Adesokan says anyone who deals with them in matters of the church, CCC does so at their own peril.
Below is the soft copy of the disclaimer;
“The above case was commenced on June 15, 2021, by Most Superior Evangelist Samson Olatunde Banjo, Superior Evangelist Pius Olarewaju, Superior Evangelist Kayode Okalsabor, Superior Evangelist (Professor) Bola Akinterinwa (Plaintiffs) against Rev. Emmanuel Mobiyina Bilehou-Oshoffa, The Incorporated Trustees of Celestial Church of Christ Makoko Village Yaba and Corporate Affairs Commission for determination of the following questions, amongst others:
i. Whether by virtue of sections 834 (1) and 835 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020, the 2nd Defendant’s Board of Trustees can only be dissolved or any member thereof replaced upon strict compliance with sections 834, 832 (2) – (4) and 835 of the Companies Allied Matters Act, 2020.
ii. Whether the dissolution of the Board of Trustees of the 2nd Defendant by the 1st Defendant acting on mandate allegedly given to him by the Pastor-in-Council of the 2nd Defendant on May 1, 2021, is contrary to the provisions of sections 146 and 154 of the Constitution of the 2nd Defendant and sections 834, 832 (2) – (4) and 835 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.
The Plaintiffs sought the following reliefs, amongst others:
1. A Declaration that the dissolution of the Board of Trustees of the 2nd Defendant by the 1st Defendant acting on mandate allegedly given to him by the Pastor-in-Council of the 2nd Defendant on May 1, 2021, is contrary to the provisions of clauses 146 and 154 of the Constitution of the 2nd Defendant and sections 834 and 832 (2)- (4) of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020 and therefore null, void and of no effect.
2. An Order setting aside the dissolution and reconstitution of the Board of Trustees of the 2nd Defendant by the 1st Defendant on or about May 3, 2021.
3. A Declaration that the Plaintiffs remain bonafide members of the Board of Trustees of the 2nd Defendant.
On July 7, 2021, the Parties unanimously consented to, and Hon. Justice Lifu of the Federal High Court, Lagos Judicial Division ordered that parties should maintain the status quo as shown in the order on the opposite page of this publication.
Despite the above consent order, the Defendants have continued to parade those purportedly appointed by the Pastor Emmanuel Moboyina Oshoffa on or about May 3, 2021, but who have not been duly registered to replace the Plaintiffs at the Corporate Affairs Commission as the Trustees of the Celestial Church of Christ at various fora, programmes and publications of the Church, in spite of the aforesaid consent order of Hon. Justice Lifu. The Plaintiffs, Most Superior Evangelist Samson Olatunde Banjo, Superior Evangelist Pius Olarewaju, Superior Evangelist Kayode Okaisabor and Superior Evangelist (Professor) Bola Akinterinwa are consequently constrained to bring to the attention of the general public that there has not been any change in the Registered Trustees in the Celestial Church as stated in its Certificate of Incorporation as shown on the opposite page to this publication.
The issue of whether the Pastor legally dissolved the Board of Trustees of the Celestial Church on May 3, 2021, is still pending for determination before Hon. Justice Lifu in the above case. The general public is consequently advised that until the Federal High Court pronounces otherwise, the Registered Trustees of the Celestial Church in Nigeria remain, Rev. Emmanuel Oshoffa, Superior Evangelist Samson Olatunde Banjo, Superior Evangelist John Rotimi Omotosho, Superior Evangelist Pius Olanrewaju, Superior Evangelist (Prof.) Bola Akinterinwa and Superior Evangelist Kayode Okaisabor.
