Omo Cele 2Many a times we as Christians are faced with the burden of making choices. Choices of where to live, choosing of career, choosing a mate, choosing your friends, even choosing the church to attend amongst others

In the book of Genesis 14:19, Lot made the wrong choice of choosing where to live because he did not consult God to choose for him and as a result of greed he chose wrongly. Therefore, this lead to: (1) war and kidnap for him.(Genesis 14:1-16). (2) oppression and torment by the ungodly people of Sodom. 2 Peter 2:7-8. (3) lose of all his possession, death of his wife and incest with his daughter.

Secondly, King David too made a wrong choice of sleeping with Bathsheba and this resulted in (1)death of the infant son. 2 Samuel 12 (2) the daughter molested by her half brother (2 Samuel 13) (3) that son killed by a vengeful brother (4) David could not build a house for God, amongst others

The two examples above, should guide us as Christians that whenever we choose to make a choice we should do the following:

  1. Ask from God and consult God always before making your choices
  2. Ask God for wisdom, God promises to give wisdom to those who ask in faith and you must realize that wisdom requires diligence. (James 1:5-8)(Proverbs 2:1-9)
  3. Endeavor to ask of advice from reliable people. Where you can have good counsel is the Bible and people of God. (Pro. 11:14)(Pro.12:15) And do not hesitate to ask others what they will do if they happen to be in your shoes
  4. Commit your choices to the Lord, believing that you have made the right choices with the understanding of the will of God. (Psalm 37:5-6)(23:56)(James 4:13-15)

Kindly note that, any choice not of God will be frustrated and God will show you who is boss

However, whenever you eventually make a wrong decision, do the following:

  • Heed the word of God and flee (a good example of Lot)
  • Do what you now know to be right without reservations. Do not be like Lot’s wife
  • Repent from your sin and serve God diligently. A very good example of Peter
  • Finally, accept Jesus and live happily in him. A very good example of Apostle Paul

Therefore, the best choice of decision you  can make today is to ask for the Holy Spirit to duel in you. Celestial holy hymn 682, stanza 2, read it.
