Many people will gather today to wash their feet by their shepherds while the heart remains so dirty and unwashed but I implore us all to seize the opportunity of this event to wash our hearts too and purge out all those things that have tied us down for long.
Jesus Christ has laid the precedent, he asked us to watch over one another but are we really doing that these days? What we watch over in the church today is money, position and what have you. Today we celebrate how Passover became the Lord’s Supper. The promises of the Old Covenant are fulfilled by the blood of the New Covenant. Even as Jesus does this, He humbles himself to wash the feet of His disciples. What a wondrous love is this!
Rest a moment in prayer and let your heart be washed over by the love of Jesus. Ask for help to love others as deeply as He has loved you. John 13:1
Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. John 13:34-35
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.
