Not many shepherds know how to enhance the appreciation for the privilege of shepherding the flock God entrusted in their care. Unarguably, the purpose of you being a shepherd of a church is to take care of the flock of God kept in your care. Every single soul of the sheep you shall account for here on earth or on judgement’s day.
But for this ageless clergyman, Pastor Fredrick Ade-Agbaje, one of the12 Disciples of His Eminence, Reverend, Pastor Bilehou Akike Adeogun, Spiritual father of CCC, Republic of Benin Diocese, he’s a man God personally trained on shepherding the flock. How?
Pastor Prince F.A. Agbaje, right from when I was a baby and grew up to adulthood, I think I have all many people do not have about him to present to you. I know him to be a man who had and still has penchant for taking care of the sheep kept in his care. While growing up, both his children and other peoples’ children in the vineyard, (Ayika) would all form a queue to greet him in the morning so as to receive our ‘Daily Bread’ (Money) during the 14 years of my stay around him, I was a beneficiary of that ‘windfall’.
Papa, as we all call him, despite his good heart, has his own flaw and weakness, he’s a no-nonsense man, a shrewd disciplinarian who would not even spare his own children when they err. A particular incident, which I wouldn’t want to bring into fore here, came to mind when one of his biological sons did something very nasty, he carried out a punishment that made me totally leave the premises. My reason then was, if he could treat his own child in this manner, he would similarly treat me even more if I was caught in such an act.
Prince Agbaje, didn’t just wake up to rise to this enviable status he occupies today in the apex body of the church; he worked through the ranks to get to this port. At age 73, highly dedicated in the cause of the church, passionate about the youth, affectionate about the people in the vineyard and loyal to the service in which he was called into pastorhood by late Rev. Pastor Bilehou David Agbaossi several years before his demise, is still very much hale, hearty and actively involved in the scheme of things.
As one of the 12 Elders Committee, popularly called Functioning Pastors, for the Supreme Headquarters of the church in Port Novo, Benin Republic, he has been religiously following the reigning pastor, Rev. Adeogun, who is working very assiduously to make their Diocese an envy of others with top notch administrative structure in place.
How I wish our new generation of shepherds could emulate this man of many paths who have lived all his life serving God of Celestial Church. Figuratively, shepherds need to be on guard against attacks of Wolves or attacks of the Devil. This may involve a courageous act of snatching and delivering the sheep from the Devil’s jaws. By taking hold of the wild beast by the beard, just has Prince Agbaje has been doing from the inception of his pastoral calling into this great church.
Papa Agbaje is the representative for the Supreme Hqts in Ogun State region where he has a big parish of the church, Jesu-Dimu Quarters (Cele Agbaje) Ikolaje-Idiroko now headed by one of his sons, Snr. Evang. Oluwatosin Imoleayo Agbaje. The 12 Disciples cannot give anointment, only the Pastor-In-Charge, Adeogun can do that, theirs is to support the Head Pastor spiritually, morally and in all other areas considered necessary.
Papa Agbaje as he is fondly called by all was the former Christian Association of Nigeria in his LG area Ogun State.
