Pray Without Ceasing But With Direction

LizWhen I saw this on the page of Liz Ebony Angel, one of the beautiful tools God is using to build homes in our church, I cannot but give her kudos for her dedication and articulate disposition in writing things to help other women, men sometimes.

In one of my evangelistic journeys, I asked the people what they would ask for if an angel of God appeared to them. A guy of about 18 from the choir stand stood up and said he would ask for money. I then asked him how much money is he’s talking about here, he said, N10m!

Well, firstly, a young guy of 18 asking for N10m is nothing but an insult to God. God is not a man that you can mock and also for Jehovah to have planted Jesus Christ in the womb of a Carpenter’s wife because He is a God of processing. You will get to Genesis before reaching the Revelation.

So, if at 20, what you want is N10m, it’s obvious the wisdom to spend that money will fail you. This is why the book of 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says but let your prayer have a direction.

Secret of all failure is our failure in secret prayer. Not just our failure to pray, but our failure in prayer. In the story of the Pharisee and the publican the Pharisee is one who prayed long and often, but he was a miserable failure. His prayers were never heard by God because neither he nor his prayers were ever right with God.

When you are praying, don’t just pray but know why you are praying. And let your prayer connect with the spirit and the right spirit of God leading. Lot of people pray and they realize after spending five hours of speaking in tongues and snapping the fingers, hitting the floor, nothing happens.

I think it’s a waste of time when you don’t know what you are praying for. Tongue sometimes says the holy words of prayer while our spirit wanders away somewhere. Or our spirit understands the words of prayer, but our heart does not respond to them with feeling. Real and full prayer takes place when our praying words and praying thoughts combine with praying feelings.

Just because you have an issue with your Roommate or your Neighbor and you feel restless, instead of settlement, you remember you can fight more and get back at them by firing in tongues all night to curse them more… A waste of time and energy! God is not a fool. He is not a hypocrite… hypocritical prayer is never answered!. Let your prayer be spirit filled and let it come from the pureness of the Heart.

We realize that sometimes, we pray for over hours, yet the burden still remains there unmoved. It means something is wrong with either the person praying or the Prayer itself.

Pray without ceasing but let your prayer have a reason and a direction and a director which is the Holy Spirit.
