To be honest, this is something that baffles me, even among so-called Christians.
I know a lot of Christians who are so humble before men that they would even literally bow down before their fellow men. They try to do things to please men, but when it comes to God, no way.
I have seen a scenario whereby if a man tells you God will punish or kill someone, the person will be confident and have some chill drinks and believe that nothing will happen.
But let’s say a man threatened to k*ll someone with great seriousness. We would see that the person would begin to panic, go to the police to file a report, and put up defenses. But when it comes to God, we are much more relaxed.
This is astonishing because we are supposed to fear the ruler of the universe more than a mere man with the king of kings in the custody of his or her life.
Can we say why people fear man rather than God? That is a real mystery.
Perhaps it’s because they can’t physically see God as they can humans.
Assuming we are still in the days of the Old Testament, the earth would have been wiped out by now. Consider receiving instant punishment for your sin.
We have taken God for granted because we know He’s always forgiven, no matter the gravity of our offense. Let us have more fear of God in our lives than we do of the men around us.
